World Tourism Day Fortnight Celebrations 2022

Chandigarh Tourism Department initiated fortnight celebrations on the occassion of International World Tourism Day on the theme Rethinking Tourism with various Events and Competitions across the City. In this regard, three day long Yoga Competition in morning and Self Defence Demonstration in evening at Sukhna Lake and Shivalik Garden, Manimajra respectively. People turned out in good number to participate in these events at respective venues. On 24th September Run for Tourism, Quiz Competition and The Art Festival of inclusion of Children and young adults with disability was also organised at Sukhna Lake to Capitol Complex, Govt Musum & Art Gallery respectively. In all these events students, anganwadi workers and residents participate in great enthusiasm and team spirit. In Quiz Competition, Mr. Vikramjit Singh and Abhinav Sharma (1st Prize), Ms. Nidhi Kamboj and Ms. Isha Chauhan (2nd Prize), Ms. Nitika Kumari and Ms. Sejal (3rd Prize), Mr. Anurag Rana and Mr. Happy Sharma students from Shishu Niketan, Govt. Model Sr. Secondary school, Sector 33, Chandigarh, Govt Model High School - I RC Dhanas, Govt Model Sr. Sec. School Sector 40B, Chandigarh respectively. Continuing with the series of Weekend events at Plaza Sector 17 and New Lake Sector 42 LIVE Band Performance was organised. Sh. Rupesh Kumar, IAS, Addl. Secretary Tourism, Chandigarh Administration stated that in order to promote Tourism in Chandigarh many such events and competitions will be organised in the City. He also solicited to residents of Chandigarh to actively participate and show their presence at the events. A call for participation not only in ongoing but for the upcoming events and competitions by him. He also intimated that all the registration/participation is available on Chandigarh Tourism App available in IOS and Android. It was requested to all public/tourists/residents to get the facilities of tourists places in your hands and to download the App.
