Heritage Manhole

The manhole covers in Chandigarh were designed by Pierre Jeanneret, the Swiss architect and close collaborator of Le Corbusier.
These manholes reflect the modernist design philosophy of the city — simple geometry, functionality, and durability. This attention to detail shows how Chandigarh was planned from monuments to the smallest civic elements. Today, these manholes are considered design heritage objects, admired by architects, planners, and design enthusiasts worldwide.
