Chandigarh Architecture Museum
It was set up in 1997 to document, preserve and showcase rare documents drawings sketches and archives etc. pertaining to the making of Chandigarh.
The building is distinctly sculptural and true corbusian in its outlook.
The museum is entered through a tube like strairway.
It has been divided into four levels.
Major Attraction
- Level 1 - Basement- The panels unfolds the trauma of partition of the country in 1947 and need to build new capital city of Chandigarh.
- Level 2 - It’s earmarked for exhibits showing Le-Corbusier and selection of his team and their work. Models and blueprints of important buildings are on display.
- Level 3 - It’s reserved for theme CHANDIGARH; TODAY AND TOMORROW. It displays the City’s growth after first phase of construction.
- Level 4 - Uppermost floor serves as a terrace against the backdrop of Shivalik hills.
